Metrocon was a lot of fun. Did the usual ADV panel and had a chance to model a kimono used in the Last Samurai. Check Animebelle.com for pics if you are interested. It was great to see all the Florida fans again and I hope to see you again soon. Alas I was called home to the office early so didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked but then again, things are getting really busy around ADV with some new things coming down the pipe soon.

Next I'm off to Otakon this weekend and once again I know I'll be busy yet having fun with everyone. Have a special panel Friday at 4pm and the usual ADV panel Saturday, I think it is 1pm. I'll probably be hanging around the ADV booth too so pop by and say hi.

Things are really jumping at ADV these days. There are some very exciting things coming up in the near future and as soon as I can talk about them I will do so. Until then, I'm heading to Metrocon soon so I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends in Florida. I'll be there with new shows for people to see, dvds to give away and just having fun with everyone. So if you are interested in what it is like to be in the industry and possibilities, or want to let us know of a title you'd like to see licensed, or just want to chat about anime, pop on in and say hi. Metrocon will rock!

Work and cons

Well it's been a while since I posted here last. I've been to several cons, just returned from Otakon which was a lot of fun but of course Baltimore in August is HOT! Been busy trying out this new idea for using bittorrent and making promotional torrents. Did one for a special trailer for Madlax and it has been so popular that I have expanded it with a new one for Godannar that has a LOT more to it. Trailers, teasers, open and closing animation, desktop backgrounds, character bios, mecha stats, story synopsis and cool artwork. The idea is to try and give you a bunch of info about a series but not spoil it so you can better decide if you want to pick up the DVDs or not. You can find them at:

Long con stretch over

With the ending of Anime Expo 2005, I have come to the end of my long con rush. Four cons in five weeks. And I'm tired. Now there is a little less than one con a month left for the rest of the year so maybe I can get some more work done around the office. At least the rush ended on a good note. The Anime Expo SPJA awards for 2005 were given out at the end of the con yesterday and ADV won:

Kawaii Kon

Not much time but wanted to say the anime fans in Hawaii and among some of the nicest fans I've meet. The turn out here has been HUGE!!! Much larger than we ever expected so I now expect next year to be even bigger and better! Hawaii fans, you guys rock!!!

Well not completely. I'm leaving this week for Kawaii Kon, you know, the con in the one state many never imaged an anime con would take place. kirikayumura, seigyoku, Lady G and I leave Tuesday together for almost a week of anime fun in Hawaii. If you are in the area then be sure and come see us at the con, I'll be handing out plenty of dvds, manga, toys, etc. of course. And if you aren't, why the heck didn't you grab a ticket?? Now that's a six hour time difference from where I am and what will make this fun is coming back I have to go past home in the other direction as I'll be appearing at Anime Boston right after Hawaii. I'll have one day at home to try and wash some clothes and repack and then it will be back on the plane for Boston where I'll meet up with good_night, lady_fae, and many, many others. Talk about jet lag. ^_^ So if you don't make it to Hawaii, hopefully I'll see you in Boston and if not there, well there are plenty of other cons still this year.

The parking bill from hell

Just to be clear, no I didn't really have to cover the $89,000 parking bill, the hotel had already corrected it by the time I had to check out, but the charge and the credit both showed up on my print out. :)

Ok, I knew it was really expensive to park in downtown Houston, but I never knew just how much. At KamiKazeCon this weekend we were told to valet park the car which we did. Seems they had worked out a special deal and had us covered. After parking friday I didn't think about it again until sunday afternoon when we got ready to check out. Then I got the bill... Valet Parking - $89,867.00!! I think I'd have a hard time getting that expense report past accounting... ^_^

Cons and travel and travel and cons

Anyone in the Houston, TX area this weekend, be sure and pop by KamiKazeCon saturday and catch me at the ADV panel or sunday for the director's panel. Be there all weekend if you just want to stop by and say hi. Then I get a nice weekend off which is good as I'll be hitting three cons in four weeks after that. Sakura con in Seattle, then a weekend off, then Kawaii Kon in Hawaii followed up by Anime Boston in (well duh) Boston. At that point I'll find myself in May. Damn, and it's still March right now. Oh, right before Sakura, I'll be in Washington DC at the Kennedy Center as part of a panel on anime. Fly into DC on weds morning, do panel that evening, fly to Seattle thursday, do con there, back to Houston sunday. Wheeeeeeeeeeee! ^_^

Ok, finally a chance to take a breath. Been a while hasn't it? :)

Anyway, what's been going on? Well I've now wrapped up D.N.Angel. That show totally rocks, I loved every bit of it. Of course the third volume is only now coming out so I'm not really done. Done with ADR work but we're still working on the rest of the things that have to be done to bring you a dvd. I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from directing to deal with some special items that need my attention. One thing I don't take a break from is the travel. Actually it's been pretty light so far this year, one con (Ohayocon) back in January but there are a couple in the month of March. This weekend I'll be taking part in a panel discussion at the art museum in Miami this weekend. We'll be talking about the artistic and cultural roots of anime and the opportunities and challenges poised by new developments in technology and general trends on where the industry is headed. So if you are in the area Saturday afternoon drop by and say hi. Then later in the month I'll be at KamiKazeCon here in Houston. Of course, so will a TON of ADV people, voice actors and everyone else. So if you wanted a chance to see some of the ADV people who don't normally get around to the cons, or really like the voice actors, this is your big chance. Lots of special events planned for the con too.

Well have to run now, hope to see a bunch of you at either of these events or at some of the many others I'm lining up now for the rest of the year. I'll tell you what's going on in April soon. ;)

So we should stay in the studio recording right? Actually for the first time in a long time it's snowing in Houston around Christmas. Won't be much and we'll be lucky if any sticks to the ground at all but it is snowing none the less. I'm off from work now through the 3rd of Jan so here's to wishing all of you the happiest of holidays.

Wrapping up recording of DNAngel, almost done. Made Luci and Hilary both cry, well the ending did. I've seen Luci cry at the end before but this was the first time I've seen Hilary do so. She did say she really liked her character. Have to wait to finish it up when I get back for I'm traveling again. No, not a con this time but off to attend the AnimeOnDVD.com Christmas party in Boston. Anyone who is going to be there I'll see you there, the rest of you have a fun weekend. When I get back on Sunday we have a voice actor party so it will be a busy weekend for me. Should be ready to record the rest of DNAngel by then :)

I'm about to start on the final eps of DNAngel and about all I can say is... WOW!! This series is really good! I love how it all came together in the end. I can't wait to torture the voice actors with these episodes. :) Hey, what can I say, I'm a director and it's one of the few pleasures we're allowed. I'm almost done with cons for the year, just one left. I'll be a Tsubasa Con so if you are in the area pop by and say hello. Things have calmed down a bit for me so I'll be posting some backlog of pics and things to pass the time. Of course it's not like I don't have work to keep me busy, besides wrapping up DNAngel dubbing (btw, volume 1 is out now so go buy it :) ), I have to begin getting ready for my next show at the same time. But I'm not as swamped as I was in the past so I can catch up on things here. Hope everyone has been having as much fun as I have... ^_^

(Did I say how much I LOVED the last few eps of DNAngel??? ^_~ )

Well I'm back from the week and a half long trek through Anime Expo and Metrocon. Both were a lot of fun and I met a lot of great people. Metrocon being the more intimate of the two of course. AX being so big you kind of lose contact with many of the fans. And I love to be able to meet and talk with the fans. But I have been away long enough. I need to get back into the studio and continue work on DNAngel. The cast guessing game is almost over so I can talk about the sessions soon and get some pics up. Of course in two weeks I have yet another con when I head off to Otakon. But after that things quiet down for a while. That's when I need to get as much done in the studio as possible. Well, take care and to all those I met and visited with the past couple of weeks, I hope you're enjoying your anime. ^_^

Just a quick note to bring you up to date. I've wrapped Aquarian Age recording and have started on DNAngel. I'd post pics and comments about the recording but since Lady G is going to do a Cast Guessing Game on www.animeondvd.com, I have to keep the cast quiet for a little while longer. :)

Had a great time at Anime Next. They're getting to be pretty big! Wonderful people there and I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves! Anime Expo is next. See you there!

Moving along

Wow, I'm almost done recording the last volume of Aquarian Age. Pretty much everyone is done. A couple of others left to record and I send the final volume off to mix. Tonight I started pre-production on my next show. As I've been telling people at cons all year, my next show is DNAngel. With all the new studios we're really putting out the anime. It's been less than a year since we announced DNAngel and we'll start recording it next month. First volume should come out towards the end of the year with luck. From what I've seen I think it will be a lot of fun and I'm loving some of the background songs. Well, I'll update with more soon and get some of the backlog of pics and reports up. Keep your eyes out for Aquarian Age and soon DNAngel. :)

Sakura Con - At Last

I know there are several people out there that have been waiting for these so instead of saying I'm sorry for the delay (it wasn't my fault as she says) here they are...

Here we are at Sakura Con 2004, well here is Monica and Colleen at least. Okay, there are some of the rest of us.

Now I know at least one person has been waiting to see these shots, I could hold them back but I'm not THAT evil. :) Problem was, he doesn't look the same without a bike under him and panties on his head. Monica seems to get in a lot of shots.

Of course we had the Dub Review people there as you can see, and being related to dubs in one way, the bunny had to get them too. Of course the bunny gets everyone else as well, Mark, Pam, Colleen...

Seeing as how they're both actors, Monica and Colleen actually get along very well... as you can see...

No, really they are good friends!

Since they're such good friends, who does Monica take her anger out on? Why the directors of course. See how much she likes me?

At least Monica seems to have had fun and made a new friend!

In truth we all had fantastic time in Seattle. They run a great con and meeting new friends is always fantastic! Looking forward to next years!

Anime Central 2004

Wow, we had a blast at Anime Central! As always they put on a great con. Of course I had to have my round of pizza up there. It was great meeting old friends and making new ones and enjoyed talking with everyone who came to the ADV panel, our booth or just chatted with me in the halls or at a party. You people are great. Of course the Suck Bunny went with me, or more like he allowed me to go with him... Helen here is ADV's con and event goddess, those of you who staff cons probably know her well. Of course she makes the bunny very happy. She makes me very happy too as she takes care of all my con arrangements and that allows me to spend more time working in the studio... hey wait a second...

This is Mara, she interviews us at several cons for a program called Anime On Location. Seems the bunny is happy with her too. Of course she had to interview our not sucky at all voice actor, Greg Aryes. Greg is always a lot of fun to talk with and I suspect Mara didn't know what to do with this wild and crazy VA. I was much more calm and polite in my interview (yeah right) than Greg but that's cuz I'm such a nice guy. What? Don't believe me? It's not my fault that John from Anime On Location was too cheap to provide two chairs... really...

This is the Bitterman from AnimeOnDVD.com. You can find him there writing dub reviews. Since he writes about dubs, you can see the bunny likes him. He remembered how Monica and I have talked about getting chocolate at cons in a commentary and gave each of us a HUGE bar of chocolate... BUT... he made one mistake. Coming from him, it should have been BITTERSWEET chocolate and not milk chocolate. Now you see why the bunny was happy? Oh and he tells me this is one of the VERY few pics of the bitterman actually smiling. The bunny gets them all.

Now there was this one person there who we thought was just another Nabeshin cosplayer from Excel Saga but it turned out it was actually Shinichi Watanabe who directed Excel Saga AND appeared in it as Nabeshin. Well, since he was a director and a character in the show, the suck bunny had to show just what he thought of him...

During the Excel panel, the guests were asked what was their most memorable moment while working on the show. Of course we can see just what Monica's moment was and Watanabe's reaction to it...

Well that's enough for now, time for me to get some rest and then back into the studio to work on Aquarian Age some more. Almost done with the third and final volume.

Anime Boston

Ok, I'm all packed up and ready to hit the road again. This time it's Anime Boston where I'll do the usual ADV panel as well as a State of the Industry and ADR Directing panels. Of course there will be the usual dvd and manga give aways and some fun stuff with the Anime Network and all the other usual con fun. Of course Suck Bunny will be there, I have to say that, it's in his contract. See everyone there! Oh, and I finished recording for volume 1 of Aquarian Age, volume 2 when I return.
